Maps and Information on the
Salmon Lochs and Rivers in the Scottish Islands
Last but not least, we turn
to the Scottish Islands - the Western Isles of Lewis, Harris, North and
South Uist, and the Isles of Skye and Mull, in particular - famed, not only for
their incomparable wild brown trout fishing, but also for some very
special salmon and sea trout fishing of unique character. This island
salmon and sea trout fishing is done, through the summer months and into
the autumn, mainly on the lochs, with a few notable
exceptions, in contrast to the more usual river fishing throughout the
mainland.
The map below shows the main salmon fishing
areas on the Scottish Islands of Lewis and Harris, The Uists,
Skye and Mull. Clicking on a blue dot will take you to a
page showing detailed maps of each area with additional information on
the salmon fishing available on the rivers and lochs of the
Scottish Islands.

In addition to the information provided
here, I would recommend that anyone planning a fishing or
walking trip in Scotland should equip themselves with a compass
and the appropriate Ordnance Survey map. The most useful of the
O.S. maps for the fisherman is the Landranger series, scale
1:50,000. For each of the lochs and rivers listed here, I have given the
relevant O.S. Map number. See
Ordnance
Survey Maps.
For a comprehensive guide to fishing on the lochs and rivers
of Scotland, I would recommend that you invest in a copy of
Bruce Sandison's excellent book:
