Maps and Information on the
Salmon Fishing Rivers of Central Scotland
Some of the
best and most famous
Scottish salmon fishing rivers are to be found
in the area I have defined as Central Scotland, i.e. the area
stretching from the rugged Atlantic coast in the west to the North
Sea in the east, from the industrial Central Belt in the south,
through the central highlands and up as far as the
Great Glen in the north, offering some of the finest salmon and sea
trout fly fishing water in the country. In the following pages,
linked from the map below, I will give information, including
detailed maps, of the salmon fishing on the major rivers in this
area, including the rivers Ness, Findhorn, Spey, Dee, Don, Deveron,
Tay, North and South Esk and many more.
The map below shows the main salmon rivers on the
central Scottish mainland, in the highland counties of
Nairn, Moray, Banff, Aberdeen, Angus, Perthshire,
Stirlingshire, Argyll
and Inverness. Clicking on a blue dot will take you to a
page showing detailed maps of each river and information on
the salmon fishing available on the rivers in central
Scotland...... wonderful salmon fly fishing on world famous
rivers like the Spey, Dee and Tay, to mention just three of
the many great
Scottish salmon fishing rivers to be found in
this part of Scotland, as shown in the list of links to the
right of the map.

In addition to the information provided
here, I would recommend that anyone planning a fishing or
walking trip in Scotland should equip themselves with a compass
and the appropriate Ordnance Survey map. The most useful of the
O.S. maps for the fisherman is the Landranger series, scale
1:50,000. For each of the lochs and rivers listed here, I have given the
relevant O.S. Map number. See
Ordnance
Survey Maps.
For a comprehensive guide to fishing on the lochs and rivers
of Scotland, I would recommend that you invest in a copy of
Bruce Sandison's excellent book:
Rivers & Lochs of Scotland: The Angler's Complete Guide 2013/14
