Maps and Information on
Trout Fishing Lochs in Northern Scotland
Wild brown trout fishing at its best. The north
of Scotland is a true fly fisher's paradise, with hundreds of lochs
to choose from, some of them so remote the trout they hold haven't seen a fisherman,
or a fisherman's fly,
in years. All you need to reach and fish them is a good pair of
boots, a compass and an Ordnance Survey map.....and a fly rod and
box of flies.
The map below shows the main trout
fishing centres on the northern Scottish mainland, in
the north highland counties of Caithness, Sutherland, Ross
and Cromarty, Argyll and Inverness. Clicking on a red dot
will take you to a page showing detailed maps of each of the
main trout fishing areas in the north of Scotland with
additional information on the fishing available.

In addition to the information provided
here, I would recommend that anyone planning a fishing or
walking trip in Scotland should equip themselves with a compass
and the appropriate Ordnance Survey map. The most useful of the
O.S. maps for the fisherman is the Landranger series, scale
1:50,000. For each of the lochs and rivers listed here, I have given the
relevant O.S. Map number. See
Ordnance
Survey Maps.
For a comprehensive guide to fishing on the lochs and rivers
of Scotland, I would recommend that you invest in a copy of
Bruce Sandison's excellent book:
Rivers & Lochs of Scotland: The Angler's Complete Guide 2013/14
